Has tight fitting metal lid. When fermenting or storing fermented foods or drink we recommend to place a piece of plastic wrap (Saran Wrap) over the mouth of the jar and then tighten the cap.

The Brewing or fermenting capacity of a one gallon jar is about 3 quarts. On a Single Stage ferment that produces about 1 cup of kombucha tea per day. Typically good for one person. We have a large selection of glass , plastic, wood, porcelain, and stainless steel brewers up to 13 gallon sizes with or without spigots.
Typically one-gallon as a single-stage ferment takes from 6 to 8 days at 80F to be properly fermented.
