Glycerin is non-toxic and is easily digested and metabolized by the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine its nature is Warm and Sweet. A fair substituted for sugar glycerin has about 80 calories per tablespoon. Glycerin has anti-bacterial properties and performs well as a solvent and preservative for herbal extractions.
