They are not approved by the FDA, AMA, or any government agency. They are as such opinions.   When seeking relief  ALWAYS  tell your health care professional, family, friends and others concerned with your health  1) What you are doing,  2) How  and  3) Why.  Seek opinions and answers to your questions - and do question what you are experiencing and why.

A sample of a Folk Remedies ....

FISH BONE IN THROAT  ...   Try swallowing pieces of dry bread or gargle your throat with strong vinegar. The vinegar will quickly soften fish bones as you can see for yourself by placing some in a little vinegar.. Place a chicken bone in a glass of vinegar wait a few days then dry off you'll have a "rubber chicken bone"

EAR ACHE   ...   Moisten a bit of cotton with cooking oil and sprinkle with pepper; Remove when relieved.

SPRAINS AND BRUISES ...  Apply cloths soaked in the coldest water obtainable. Use vinegar for a liniment. Rub it in well and repeat every hour.

SORE EYE ... wet some tea (use t-bags) and leave on. Replace when the leaves dry out.

CUTS ... Bind on a mixture of flour and salt. Some old-timers bound on a spider web to stop the blood. Others used a piece of dried puff ball. 'Dried plantain leaves were used to stop the blood by old time doctors

INSECT BITES AND STINGS ... Rub raw onion on insect bites and bee stings.  Wild leeks are as good as the, onions. If you haven't an onion or can't find a leek use common mud.  Ammonia, vinegar and turpentine are all good too.

TOOTHACHE ...  Make a solution of warm vinegar and salt. Hold it in your mouth around the tooth until the pain eases. If the tooth is hollow put some cayenne pepper on a piece of cotton or wool and put it in the cavity.

SCALDS AND BURNS ... Scraped raw potato will draw the fire from a burn. Scalds and burns occur when least expected. An old remedy was to cover the scald with dry baking soda and keep wet cloths over the place.

POISON SUMAC ...  A strong brine of salt and water rubbed on the poisoned area was used by the pioneers.

SORE CHAPPED HANDS ... Rub in diluted vinegar.

CHAFING ...  The old lumberjack's remedy was plain, dry cornstarch. It does the job.
