The advantage is clearly precison at an affordabale price. Easily monitor your kombucha ferments - remember kombucha tea should be 3.0 or lower to be both safe and effective. There is a huge difference between 4 (not ready) 3(safe) and 2 (undrinkable).  Test the pH of water,aquariums, or your own body (urine or sweat). The problems with the strips are two fold. The full range are difficult to read for some folks and the strips that come in 1/2 or 1/3 point increments are not in the full range and you have to buy 2 full sets to monitor correctly and then you'll be spending more than the cost of our digital unit.  Still some folks prefer the strips, cheap, fast and they don't use them that often.
