The unique spiral shape of our 1" x 8" Infusion Spirals achieves maximum accelerated extraction time. Place directly into the kombucha or kefir whet. Heavy toasted for quicker shorter integration time. Oak flavor is fully extracted in 6 weeks. Withdraw sooner for a milder taste. Infusion Spirals are made of ultra premium American & French Oakno sapwood, no bark, no knots. A unique process distributes the flavor evenly and can fully flavor a barrel in as little as six weeks.
SUGGESTED APPLICATION: One package is enough to flavor a total of 6 gallons. Two 8 inch spirals in one package. Recommended dosage- 1-2 8 stick-s per 6 gallons of wine. 2 sticks is the equivalent of 8 months in a new oak barrel. Let oak integrate in bottle for minimum of 6 months for full extraction benefits. Can be placed directly into fementing kombucha or kefir whey. Or During the Second or Third Stage of Ferment. Use as much or as little as you desire. The longer time (up to 6 months) will fully extract the benefits of the oak. But you can, of course, use less time. You can also reuse the oak spirals up to a total of 6 months of total use.

A: 'Oak Alternative' refers to alternative methods to using oak barrels for flavoring wine and vinegar. A wine's oak character can be imparted using one of a myriad of non barrel oaking methods. These alternative methods include spirals, oak chips, oak powder, or by the insertion of oak staves into tank.
